Judith Austen Exhibits in Dreams, Deities & Archetypes at Stevens Gallery

This winter, Stevens Gallery in Tucson becomes a gathering place for artists, seekers, and lovers of symbolic imagery with the exhibition Dreams, Deities & Archetypes, a show devoted to visionary and archetypal art. Judith Austen is honored to be among the exhibiting artists whose work explores the meeting point between image, psyche, and meaning.

Running concurrently with the exhibition are two special public presentations that deepen the show’s themes and invite visitors into dialogue about art, imagination, and inner life. On February 14, 2026, Stevens Gallery will host “Realists of a Larger Reality,” a presentation by Lauren Raine, inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s call for artists who can “see alternatives to how we live now.” The talk draws on Raine’s interviews with visionary artists, including Alex and Alison Grey, and includes video from Alex Grey’s TED Talk on the creation of Sacred Mirrors, a decade-long exploration of the human and spiritual body

Later, on March 7, 2026, the gallery presents “Vision Quest: Healing with Jungian Depth Psychology & the Sacred Image,” led by Charles Gillispie, MFA, LIAC. This two-hour presentation brings Jungian depth psychology into conversation with the sacred imagery of local artists, exploring how archetypes, the collective unconscious, and active imagination show up in visual art and support healing, creativity, and meaning-making. The program is designed for artists, therapists, and seekers alike, and centers on the idea that art mirrors the soul’s inner life and participates in the transformative power of the creative process.

Judith’s work fits beautifully within this context. Her paintings move beyond surface appearances and into the symbolic and the numinous, engaging with themes of inner worlds, spiritual presence, and the unseen patterns that shape human experience. In a show devoted to dreams, deities, and archetypes, her pieces offer viewers a quiet but potent invitation to pause, look inward, and remember that images are not just decorations…they are doorways.

If you are drawn to visionary art, Jungian symbolism, or the meeting place of creativity and consciousness, this exhibition and its accompanying events promise a rare and nourishing experience. Visit Stevens Gallery, spend time with the work, and join the conversations that explore how art continues to serve as a bridge between imagination, psyche, and soul.
