Artist's Resume Judith Austen was born and raised in the New York City area. She attended art school at Pratt Institute where she received her Bachelor's of Fine arts; took a Master's in Elementary Education at Bank Street College; and later moved to Boston to attend Boston University where she earned a Masters of Fine Arts. A painter living in the Boston area for over twenty years, Ms Austen has had ten one-woman shows and has exhibited her work in many group shows. Her work ranges from low tide seascapes to surreal still-lives painted in spacious landscape settings taken from her time spent on Cape Cod, in Maine, New Mexico, and while living in a loft at The Piano Factory overlooking the Boston skyline. Her present studio is on top of a Victorian house in Newton where she lives with her husband. Along with painting or writing, she teaches studio art at Shady Hill School -- a private elementary school in Cambridge, Massachusetts for children, ages four through fourteen - and where her tales of the Terribles and Wonderfuls are told. She also trains teachers in the apprentice program there and offers a weekly night course in oil painting for adults of the larger Shady Hill Community. | |
